Of all the family photos taken during my children's growing up, the ones most valuable to them are the ones with their dog, Lady. Lady was a gift from the pound, a beautiful German Shepherd. She lived as a precious member of our family for 13 years.

This winter while on a walk I passed this beautiful Golden and her owner and had to take her picture. She so represented what we all love in our dogs.

This past week I had the opportunity to go to my grandson's indoor soccer game. This is a league where the children don't practice but just play games. The team is from scattered school's so don't even know one another yet. Well, the game was a rout and the kids were overcome with the feeling of failure. Just the week before they had won by a huge margin and it felt so good. My heart went out to these kids...but I felt it was such a great opportunity for them to learn compassion and humility. Something they didn't think about the week before under the blaze of glory.

This week we have made the final dash to get our house on the market. For a family of procrastinators this becomes a time when we kick it into gear and then wonder why work can't be done at a more reasonable pace. We always swear it won't happen again and we will take some time to enjoy our projects . But there is something in accomplishing the impossible that always pulls us back into this habit of waiting until the last minute and then pushing with everything in us.
